Episode Transcript

Let's talk about Saint Carlo Acutis, this kid who became the first millennial saint, canonized back in 2025. Born in 1991 in London to Italian parents, he grew up in Milan, loved computers, video games, soccer, the usual teen stuff. But from super young, he had this deep love for Jesus, especially the Eucharist. He called it his highway to heaven. He taught himself programming and built this website cataloging Eucharistic miracles from around the world, putting the faith online in a way that reached tons of people.

Then at 15, he got leukemia, offered his suffering for the pope and the church, and died on 10/12/2006. His life was short, but, man, it hit hard. What makes him such an inspiration? In a world obsessed with fame and followers, Carlo shows you don't need to chase likes or go viral for clout to matter. He used tech not to build his own brand, but to point straight to God.

Contrast that with modern celebrities like Kanye West or the Kardashians. Folks who blow up overnight with drama, luxury, endless self promotion, and often end up in cycles of controversy or emptiness. Or think of influencers like Jake Paul all about stunts and money grabs. Carlo flipped the script. He lived quietly, said no to distractions, focused on what's eternal.

He quoted Steve Jobs about not wasting time living someone else's life, but he took it further. His life was all about saying yes to Jesus every day. And here's the cool part. He's inspirational for people of all ages. Kids and teens see a peer who was holy without being weird or preachy.

He played Pokemon, coded, hung out with friends, yet kept the rosary daily and went to mass. Parents look at him and think, my kid can be tech savvy and still deeply faithful. Older folks admire how he faced suffering with joy and offered it up. Reminding everyone, holiness isn't about age or status. It's about turning toward God right where you are.

Whether you're 15 scrolling TikTok, 40 juggling work and family, or 80 reflecting on life, Carlo says, use what you've got. Your phone, your time, your talents, to love God and others. That's why he's God's influencer in the best way. His example cuts through the noise and points us all back to what really lasts. This is The Catholic Frequency.
